Do You Need a Visa for Bali?

Most foreign travelers can enter Bali on a visa on arrival (VOA), available at the airport for a fee. As of 2026, the VOA is valid for 30 days and can be extended once for an additional 30 days at an immigration office in Bali.

Who can get a visa on arrival

Citizens of around 90 countries qualify, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, most EU member states, and many Asian nations. The fee is currently 500,000 Indonesian Rupiah (around USD 35), payable in cash or by card at the airport immigration counter.

The e-VOA option

You can apply online for the e-VOA before traveling, which lets you skip the airport queue. Apply at the official Indonesian immigration website 48-72 hours before your flight. Print the approval or save it on your phone. At the airport, you go straight to the e-VOA lane.

What you need at immigration

A passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date. Proof of onward travel (a flight booking out of Indonesia within 30 days). The VOA fee or e-VOA confirmation. Filled-out arrival card (now done electronically through the All Indonesia or eHAC app).

Visa-free entries

Citizens of ASEAN countries and a small list of others can enter Bali visa-free for short visits. The list changes occasionally; check the latest at the Indonesian immigration website before booking.

Overstay penalties

Overstaying your visa carries a daily fine of 1,000,000 Indonesian Rupiah (around USD 65) per day. Long overstays can result in deportation and a re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder before your visa expires.
